In 2010, Shanghai joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and was awarded the title “City of Design”, and Shanghai Design Week (SHDW) was born. Organized by Shanghai Municipal People's Government and guided by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, SHDW is an integrated design event that celebrates and promotes the development of the international “City of Design”, aiming to build a launch site for international and domestic original designs, a platform for industrial transformation of excellent designs, and an inclusive, innovative and integrated design business atmosphere.
